A Study of Biochemical Parameters in Hypothyroid Cases and Euthyroid Controls
نویسنده
چکیده
Thyroid disorders are the most common endocrine disorders. In the present study 51 hypothyroid cases and 50 Euthyroid controls were analysed for Thyroid Profile, Lipid Profile, Body Mass Index (BMI) waist circumference, Hip circumference and waist hip ratio. Out of 51 Hypothyroid subjects studied, 5 are having subclinical Hypothyroidism, 20 are having mild Hypothyroidism, 14 Subjects are having moderate Hypothyroidism and 12 are having severe Hypothyroidism. It was found that Hypothroidism is associated with Obesity and hence weight reduction and regular physical exercise are to be advised for Hypothyroid Patients. It was also observed that Hypercholesterolemia with increased LDL-C and decreased HDL-C were noticed in Hypothyroid subjects and hence early detection of Hypothyroidism will help in prevention of progression of the disease to severity.

Background: Hypothyroidism (HT), a relatively common condition among general population is associated with lipid profile abnormalities. The present study was designed to determine the contributive role of HT in the development of hypercholesterolemia (HCH). Methods: One hundred thirty six consecutive patients with HT and 272 euthyroid controls entered the study. Serum total cholesterol (CH) lev...

Backgrounds: Thyroid hormones play an important physiological role in human metabolism. Erythrocyte abnormalities are frequently associated with thyroid disorder. However, they are rarely investigated and related to the subclinical and primary hypothyroidism in Kashmiri Patients. In this study an attempt was made to study hematological parameters in untreated and treated subclinical hypothyroi...

متن کاملInfluence of thyroid hormones on biochemical parameters of liver function: a case-control study in North Indian population
Normal level of thyroid hormones is important for normal hepatic function and thyroid dysfunction may modulate metabolic function of liver. The purpose of this study is to determine whether liver function is associated with subclinical and overt hypothyroidism. Thyroid and liver function tests were evaluated in 47 patients with overt (TSH ≥10.0 mIU/L) and 77 patients with subclinical hypothyroi...
